The Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, including the commercially-focused CRO arm Lovelace Biomedical, has been a leader in inhalation drug delivery, respiratory disease and development of aerosol formulations for more than 40 years.  This year, Lovelace will showcase this broad expertise as the host organization for the 21st Congress of the International Society for Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM), June 3-7, 2017 in scenic Santa Fe, NM.

The ISAM organization was founded in 1970, and in the decades since has evolved its focus to include pulmonary drug delivery and the health effects of inhaled aerosols.  This year’s Congress boasts an increasing focus on new and current technologies within aerosols in medicine; as such the scientific program includes focused sessions on:  Asthma/COPD, infectious disease, nasal drug delivery, in vitro cell models, therapeutic gases, pulmonary fibrosis, personalized medicine, new/emerging aerosol therapy and electronic cigarettes.  Each area will include both invited speakers and selected abstract presentations to ensure that attendees are presented with both expert data and the most current research relevant to each theme.

The program committee for this year’s meeting includes two Lovelace scientists: Philip Kuehl, Ph.D., Director of Scientific Core Laboratories, and Matt Reed, PhD, Director of Preclinical Drug Development – Toxicology.  Together these two are working with the ISAM board, ISAM office and the ISAM 2017 committee to create a congress that will include presentations on the current state-of-the-art.  As host organization, Lovelace is working to ensure that the meeting provides a dynamic interaction for clinical, academic, industrial and regulatory scientists alike.

The organizing committee is pleased to showcase the oldest capital city in the United States, Santa Fe, NM, with the 21st ISAM congress.  The congress is being held at the Eldorado Hotel and Spa which is nestled within the historic district of Santa Fe.  Within walking distance, attendees will find unique blend of historical culture and culinary experiences.  Situated just east of the venue is the Historic Santa Fe Plaza.  The plaza is world renowned for its cultural shopping experiences, historical art museums and dining opportunities to suit any taste.  With over 300+ days of sunshine a year, greater New Mexico presents attendees with limitless attractions before or after the congress.
